17 OCTOBER - WORLD DAY OF ORGAN DONATION AND TRANSPLANTATION
We've already talked about the importance of organ donation and the types of organ donations. Still, today it's not superfluous to emphasize once again: that organ donation is a chance for life for many people waiting for a transplant!
Ukraine is making great strides in developing transplantation, and every successful operation is a victory for our medical system and society. We are grateful to every donor, doctor, and everyone who makes this process possible!
Despite skepticism, Ukrainian transplant surgeons are specialists with great experience. Few people know that the world's first human kidney transplant took place in Ukraine. The operation was performed by Yuriy Voronyi and his team in 1933!
In today's dangerous situation in Ukraine, the decision to become an organ donor takes on even greater value and importance. Legally, this has only recently become possible, although donation could save many lives.
