4 FEBRUARY - WORLD CANCER DAY

Cancer doesn't ask when it's convenient. Cancer suddenly changes your life and challenges the patient and his or her family and loved ones. But the fight against cancer is not just about medicine. It's about support, faith, and a chance for the future.

The official figures from international organizations are impressive. According to WHO experts, if no decisive action is taken by governments, NGOs, doctors, and volunteers, there will be 5.4 million cancer cases and 2.5 million oncology deaths in Europe each year by 2030.

All of this points to a shocking reality surrounding an ominous problem that needs to be recognized. Here are some facts from Ukraine, no less impressive statistics that cannot be ignored:

  • 120,000 Ukrainians each year receive a diagnosis that divides their lives into "before" and "after".
  • 1,000 children a year face an unequal battle with a terrible diagnosis.
  • One in five cancer cases could be prevented with early diagnosis.

An effective fight always starts with simple actions. What can we do right now?

  • Remind your loved ones to get tested.
  • Support those who are fighting - with words, deeds, and publicity.
  • Share important information, because knowledge saves lives.
