5-YEAR-OLD SASHKO WITH CP AND DEAFNESS NEEDS SUPPORT
Since birth, 5-year-old Sashko Skrypka has been fighting for a healthy life! The consequences of difficult diagnoses do not allow the boy to fully enjoy his childhood. His story is deeply impressive.
Sashko was born at the 35th week of pregnancy. Shortly after birth, the baby was admitted to the intensive care unit, and then to the neonatal intensive care unit at the OKHMATDYT hospital. Doctors established complex diagnoses for the child: early neonatal sepsis, necrotizing enterocolitis, hemorrhagic disease of the newborn, meningitis and recurrent ventriculitis.
Sasha spent almost a month in intensive care. A concomitant diagnosis appeared: posthemorrhagic internal progressive postinflammatory hydrocephalus. But due to the high amount of blood protein and leukocytes, the baby was not shunted. Instead, antibiotic therapy was used.
When Sashko's condition satisfied the doctors, he got a surgery and a drug bypass system was installed. But, unfortunately, there was a relapse. The boy had one more surgery and got antibiotic treatment again. At about 6 months, Sasha's condition stabilized, and he was operated on for the third time.
Shortly after discharge, the boy began working with rehabilitators. But after some time, the parents noticed that Sashko could not hear. The child was fitted with a cochlear implant, and then studied for a long time with a deaf teacher.
Regular work with rehabilitators was successful. At the age of 2.5 years, the boy not only crawled, turned over and leaned on his elbows, but also confidently stood near the support. Now Sasha is almost 5. He walks independently. The boy is fond of drawing, plays with toys, and happily works with a defectologist, a speech therapist, and a psychologist.
To overcome the consequences of difficult diagnoses, rehabilitation courses must be regular! Only under this condition Sasha will have a chance for a healthy future. Unfortunately, classes with specialists cost a lot. Help the family pay for the rehabilitation course!
