7-YEAR-OLD SOLOMIYA DREAMS OF NEW SKILLS. SHE NEEDS REHABILITATION
The Vodolazhko family was eagerly waiting for the appearance of their daughter Solomiya. The parents already had two adult sons. So pregnancy with a daughter became a real happiness for them. Unfortunately, premature birth proved to be an ordeal for both mother and baby. Doctors had to save them both.
Solomiya was born at 32 weeks of pregnancy with a weight of 1,900 g. She spent two weeks in a special cuvette for newborns. After that, they were transferred with their mother to another hospital, and only then they were discharged home.
At the age of 1, Solomiya was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. And it was a terrible blow for the whole family. Every 2-3 months, the child attended rehabilitation activities at the state hospital. There, the girl's mother learned about other rehabilitation centers. The girl began visiting specialists in different parts of Ukraine.
Now Solomiya is 7 years old, she studies in the 1st grade on an inclusive form of education. The child's intelligence is preserved and she needs to work on new skills. Because of spasticity, it is difficult for her to write. And the worst thing is that she can’t walk on her own.
Regular rehabilitation exhausts the family. But this is the only way to a healthy childhood. Please support Solomiya in her fight!
