16-YEAR-OLD YAROSLAV WITH CP AND EPILEPSY IS ASKING FOR HELP!
Yaroslav Makarenko loves music and dreams of a career as a DJ. But from a young age he was forced to fight for his life and health. At an early age, the boy first had epileptic seizures, which were impossible to control.
Constant selection of drugs - both in monotherapy and in a complex of several anticonvulsant drugs - did not give results, and the encephalogram always displayed the presence of epileptic seizures.
In addition to the treatment of epilepsy, Yaroslav was constantly engaged in physical rehabilitation, because the boy also has cerebral palsy. In adolescence, the character of seizures suddenly changed, and it became difficult for Yaroslav to keep his balance. He received numerous injuries due to the fall.
In December 2020, Yaroslav underwent one of the most difficult procedures in epilepsy surgery — a hemispherectomy. This is the disconnection of the left hemisphere. The surgery lasted 14 hours! The postoperative period was difficult, but the result was worth it.
Unfortunately, after the surgery, paresis increased, especially of the right hand. This was a predictable consequence. Therefore, now the main goal of rehabilitation of a young patient is to restore and maintain physical condition.
Yaroslav constantly trains, works with rehabilitators. But courses at specialized institutions are very expensive. Therefore, the Makarenko family is asking for help from everyone who cares! A 16-year-old teenager wants to move freely and live a happy life! With your support, he will have a chance!
