11-YEAR-OLD MARKIYAN WITH A RARE GENETIC DISEASE NEEDS REHABILITATION
When Markiyan Smerechansky was only 9 months old, he suddenly fell ill with an enterovirus infection. The boy lost all skills, as if he had become a newborn again. Doctors from Lviv, Kyiv, and Kharkiv could not identify the cause and establish a diagnosis for a long time.
A few months later, it turned out that Markiyan had a rare disease - mitochondrial encephalopathy, glutaric aciduria. In addition, there are other diagnoses: spastic tetraparesis, organic mental disorder. Markiyan's health is critical. In order to live, he has to take expensive medicines every day, the monthly treatment of which costs 1000 euros!
And for physical and intellectual development, Markiyan needs rehabilitation courses. Due to regular classes, the boy learned to say his first words, sit, crawl, stand at a support, and walk with the help of a walker. However, the child does not yet know how to walk independently. We have to work on this.
The nearest rehabilitation course for Markiyan is scheduled for March. But its price is beyond the reach of the Smerechanskyi family. Please help them pay for medical services for their son!
