9-YEAR-OLD MARGARITA WITH A RARE HEREDITARY DIAGNOSIS NEEDS YOUR HELP!
The whole family was looking forward to Margarita's appearance. The pregnancy was perfect, and the birth was uneventful. But the child was born very small for the appropriate term. Instead of being discharged home, the baby was immediately transferred from the maternity hospital to the neonatal pathology department.
There, for two weeks, the little one gradually gained weight on intravenous therapy. After the long-awaited return home, the child was forced to feed through a tube. And in a few weeks, little Margarita and her mother were sent to the surgical department of the Okhmatdyt clinic. There, the baby underwent stomach surgery.
"After discharge, it seemed that everything was over. But then - 6 months in hospitals for various reasons. A bunch of examinations, analyses, assumptions, unconfirmed diagnoses. And finally, almost 3 years later, a genetic defect, Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, was diagnosed. From the age of one and a half, our path of rehabilitation began. A lot of time and effort, and only at 4.5 years old - her first independent steps," says Margarita's mother, Victoria.
Now the girl is 9 years old, she is very gentle and kind. The child likes to swim and rollerblade. Each intensive course of rehabilitation allows Margarita to acquire new skills and abilities. In March, the girl is expected to attend a planned course of study. But the family budget is exhausted. The family appeals for help to everyone who cares!
