1.5-YEAR-OLD MARIA IS FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE WITH SERIOUS OESOPHAGEAL AND STOMACH PROBLEMS! HELP THE GIRL TO RECOVER!
Three times in a row last year we launched fundraising campaigns to help little Mariyka Masych, who was born prematurely and suffers from congenital pathologies. At the time, the child was in a critical condition and needed urgent and expensive treatment, so we couldn't go through with it.
When Mariyka was in one of the hospitals in Dnipro, her condition was considered stable by the doctors. The baby was in intensive care all the time. The child underwent four operations on her oesophagus, but after a while the stitches began to separate and fistulas appeared on the oesophagus.
When Mariyka took food through her stomach, she immediately had a reflex accompanied by vomiting. The child needed stomach surgery. The family was sent to the Okhmatdyt clinic for examination. Already in Kyiv, Maria underwent surgery on her stomach. But there were other complications.
During medical tests in early 2024, the girl twice fell ill with bilateral aspiration pneumonia. A large amount of sputum was found in her lungs and she had to undergo a bronchoscopy. During the procedure, Maria had a bronchospasm and became short of breath. The doctors put her on a ventilator and saved her life.
When Mariyka's condition began to improve, she was fed through the stomach. In one month, the girl gained only 400 grams. Unfortunately, in March, Mariyka's condition worsened and she had to be fed through a gastrostomy tube again. In April her weight was 7 kg and since then she has not gained any more weight.
Soon Mariyka will have another operation on her oesophagus and later on her stomach. So the migrant family is in great need of help from those who care! She needs money to buy special food for enteral feeding, medicine to support her general condition and medical consumables.
