8-YEAR-OLD MYKHAILO, WITH A CNS DEVELOPMENT DEFECT, HAD TO STOP HIS REHABILITATION BECAUSE OF THE WAR! HELP THE BOY GET BACK ON HIS FEET!
Mykhailo Kurylenko was born without any visible signs of pathology. But by the time he was 6 months old, he was still unable to sit or stand on his own and was not paying attention to toys. After consulting doctors, Mykhailo was diagnosed with cataracts in both eyes, which meant two eye surgeries in the first year of his life.
The cataract removal was successful, but further diagnostics revealed the diagnoses Mykhailo has been living with ever since - a congenital defect of the central nervous system, hypoplasia of the corpus callosum, and spastic tetraparesis of the lower limbs. Since then, the boy's parents have put all their efforts into his recovery, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Mykhailo worked hard and diligently with specialists and learned to sit on his own, and later to stand on his knees and move on all fours. Unfortunately, the war in Ukraine brought its own corrections: the family was forced to leave their home and rent an apartment, and the boy had to stop rehabilitation for a long time.
Today, Mykhailo's parents find it extremely difficult to pay for all of their son's medical services, treatment, research, and rehabilitation. Systematic training with specialists is now the only thing that can keep his condition stable. Help Mykhailo get back on his feet!
