TWINS DENYS AND VALERIA WITH CP TRY TO MOVE FREELY AND NEED MORE REHABILITATION!
Denys and Valeriya Sviatkivskyi were born prematurely, at 28 weeks of pregnancy. After the birth, the babies stayed within the walls of the "Okhmatdit" clinic for another 2 months. When they were discharged, the doctors were positive about the children's development, but unfortunately the siblings were diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of one.
The children have never been able to walk freely and without pain, but their intellectual development has never been delayed. Denys and Valeria are promising children and the family is doing everything possible for their treatment and rehabilitation. For 12 years, the children have visited many rehabilitation centers in Ukraine.
In 2014, Denys and Valeria underwent spasticity surgery at the Kharkiv Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology. Since then, Valeriya has been able to walk independently without straightening her knees, and Denis has been able to walk with support. In 2019, Valeria was fitted with knee plates to walk straight.
2 years ago, Denys had another operation on his legs to insert pins because the boy has an external rotation of his feet. Valeria, on the other hand, had plates inserted to prevent her pelvis from tilting. Regular rehabilitation is showing results: Denys is gradually starting to walk on his own, and Valeria is more confident in keeping her balance.
Denys and Valeria are very sociable, they like to communicate with their classmates, ride bicycles, assemble a constructor, and do puzzles. The children are now successfully learning in an inclusive school. The Sviatkivskyi siblings have every chance of living a full and pain-free life, so they desperately need help to pay for their rehabilitation!
