6-YEAR-OLD ILYA WITH CP CANNOT WALK OR TALK. HELP THE BOY GET TO THE REHABILITATION AND NEUROPHYSIOLOGY CENTRE!
Ilya Shmalko was born as a result of a difficult birth with convulsions and asphyxia. The child spent the first month of his life in the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care for Newborns in Dnipro, on a respirator. After numerous examinations, doctors diagnosed the boy with cerebral palsy, spastic tetraparesis with pronounced persistent motor disorders and psychomotor developmental delay.
Ilya is now 6 years old. He still cannot sit, walk, or talk, so he crawls on his knees to move around. He has learned to drink through a straw and eat by himself. His daily schedule includes physiotherapy, massages, lessons with a speech therapist, and visits to the swimming pool. For several years, Ilya has completed 11 courses of hippotherapy.
The child's further development is achieved through regular rehabilitation classes. Ilya underwent rehabilitation in Slovakia and in various rehabilitation centers in Ukraine, as well as in-patient treatment at the Municipal Children's Clinic №6 in Dnipro, where he received medical services and drug therapy. Help the family give the boy a chance to get back on his feet and live a full life!
