15 YEAR OLD ARTEM WITH CONGENITAL DEFECTS NEEDS CARE AND TREATMENT! HELP THE BOY GET REHABILITATION!
Artem Honcharenko's mother found out about his diagnosis - congenital hydrocephalus - even before he was born. The boy spent the first month of his life in the perinatal centre with unstable body temperature, fed through a tube. Later, Artem was fitted with a shunt at the Institute of Neurosurgery. The congenital brain defect caused right-sided spastic hemiparesis.
The doctors allowed Artem to undergo his first rehabilitation 4 months after the operation. He gradually learned to sit and walk, attended massages and exercise classes, and worked with instructors. In 2012, symptomatic epilepsy, delayed speech and mental development were added to Artem's list of serious diagnoses, and classes with a speech therapist, psychologist, and consultations with a psychiatrist were added to the boy's schedule.
Artem started walking, eating, and talking independently at almost three years old but still needs help and constant rehabilitation. He attends a special school for children with developmental disabilities, where he learns to socialise in society. Artem is friendly and kind. He knows many fairy tales by heart, participates in performances, and has even acted in films. However, he has poor spatial orientation and needs constant care.
Artem's rapid growth has shortened his right leg and increased the contractures in his hand. For the past two years, he has been rehabilitating at the Kozyavkin Clinic, with positive results: his back has become straighter, the tension in his limbs has decreased, and the quality of his gait and concentration has improved. Artem needs to be treated so that he does not lose his momentum. Help him start his rehabilitation in April!
