7-year-old Olena, who has Down syndrome and joint dysplasia, has begun to walk and aspires to grow. Support the girl!
Olena Serednia was born at 39 weeks of gestation. The birth was difficult, requiring a cesarean section. During delivery, the girl experienced hypoxic-ischemic damage to her central nervous system and developed pulmonary hypertension. Olena's congenital diagnoses include Down syndrome and a movement disorder syndrome.
The child also had congenital cataracts in both eyes and underwent surgery to implant artificial lenses at the age of 6 months. Later, Olena developed symptoms of epilepsy; however, following treatment, her seizures disappeared. Due to hip dysplasia and valgus deformity of the lower extremities, the girl did not walk at all until she was 2 years old.
At age 3, Olena began to walk a little, but she tired quickly and was carried in a pram until she was 5.5 years old. She walks independently and even runs a little, although she has weak hand motor skills. Unfortunately, Olena does not speak and only makes a few sounds—her family dreams of her speaking. Help Olena get into rehabilitation!
