Thirteen-year-old Maksym, who has Down syndrome and multiple developmental disabilities, requires a rehabilitation program. Please support the boy!
Maksym Shevchenko is a brave boy who is overcoming the effects of many complex diagnoses. He has Down syndrome and congenital defects of the heart and genitourinary system. At age 11, Maksym experienced a growth spurt, which led to scoliosis and kyphosis. Since then, doctors have recommended a Chenot corset and rehabilitation every two months.
Maksym is learning to play the piano and enjoys riding a scooter, drawing, doing puzzles, and dancing. He is a very tactile child who loves hugs. His family spent five months under occupation and, with great difficulty, managed to leave for Ukrainian-controlled territory in July 2022. Maksym then experienced severe stress, which significantly set back his development. The boy stopped talking.
In 2023, Maksym had eye surgery. Although his vision has improved, he still requires corrective lenses. The boy now requires regular rehabilitation, which is a financial burden on his internally displaced family. Please support Maksym and his family and help him attend the next rehabilitation session!
