Nine-year-old Pavlo, who has autism and speech disorders, requires a rehabilitation course at a correctional centre.
Pavlo Berest was a healthy child until he turned one year old. However, later, his parents began to notice concerning changes in his behaviour. He did not react to his family or others, was constantly withdrawn, and showed no interest in anything. Initially, it was suspected that he had hearing problems because he did not respond to his name. However, after numerous visits to doctors, it was confirmed that Pavlo had autism.
Until the age of five, the boy did not speak a single word or respond to anything. Fortunately, regular classes at a remedial centre started to positively influence his development. His parents noticed certain changes in his behaviour: he became more alert, began reading syllables, and enjoyed swimming in the pool. The boy now has a vocabulary of about 50 words.
To continue developing, socialising, and improving his communication skills, and to achieve a normal childhood, Pavlo needs regular rehabilitation and medical treatment.
