Nine-year-old Ira, who has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, bravely fights the challenges of her condition. Support her on her developmental journey!
Iryna Honcharenko experienced asphyxia and hypothermia at birth. She spent her first 20 days in the intensive care unit, where doctors saved her life. After being discharged, it became apparent that, due to her severe injuries, Iryna would face difficulties enjoying a normal childhood.
She has now been diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy and localized epilepsy with convulsive seizures. She is developing slowly and cannot walk independently. From her earliest months to the present day, Iryna has consistently received treatment and consultations from specialists and has undergone medical examinations.
Iryna's mother is raising her alone. They live in Vilnohirsk, a small town that lacks professional inclusive support and rehabilitation specialists. Iryna receives individual sessions with a speech therapist and a speech-language pathologist. For rehabilitation to be effective, it should be repeated every three months.
Iryna is in her second year of lyceum. She has made great progress, learning to walk with support, stand for short periods, dress herself, and improve her speech. She loves Korean pop music and dreams of traveling to Korea. She also takes piano lessons to help her control her hyperkinesis and develop her hand-eye coordination.
She enjoys communicating with others but is a bit shy and becomes anxious when she is not understood. Unfortunately, she lacks interaction with her peers. Please help Ira and her mother pay for her next rehabilitation course. This will boost her confidence and support her growth and development.
