Nine-year-old Maksym with severe autism faces significant challenges with social adaptation. Please help him access rehabilitation!
Maksym Pererva is a beloved child. He is nine years old now and nearly an adolescent. He is clearly a very kind and gentle boy who wants to interact with other children. Unfortunately, he does not speak at all and struggles with numerous behavioral problems and emotional disorders. As a result, he faces significant challenges in social adaptation.
Maksym was born via caesarean section. Until the age of two, he developed normally: by one year old, he was walking independently and speaking in phrases. However, when Maksym was two, he stopped responding to his name or spoken words. He also became selective about food and showed other concerning symptoms. Later, he stopped talking altogether.
His parents raised concerns and consulted many doctors for advice. Neurologists confirmed that Maksym had a developmental delay. Later, psychiatrists identified signs of autism spectrum disorder in the boy. Maksym started working with a remedial teacher and a speech therapist, while also attending sensory integration classes and swimming lessons. He received rehabilitation at a state clinic every three months.
In 2022, Maksym was officially diagnosed with childhood autism. The start of a full-scale war in the country, along with related stressful events, significantly worsened Maksym's mental and physical health. His focus diminished, he started having lengthy uncontrollable tantrums, and there was a clear regression in his self-care abilities.
Maksym is currently under constant monitoring by a psychiatrist, neurologist, and geneticist. He is receiving medication in the form of neuroleptics. He needs ongoing, intensive rehabilitation. Only regular sessions with specialists can help Maksym develop and give him a chance at independence. Please help the family pay for the next planned rehabilitation course!
