Serhiy Bulava was born prematurely at 35 weeks. During birth, his lungs failed to expand. He suffered severe postpartum complications, including sepsis and damage to the central nervous system. Serhiy's first year was marked by endless medical examinations due to pseudocysts in his head and symptoms of hydrocephalus.
Over time, his parents grew concerned that he was developmentally delayed because he did not respond to his name or use a pointing gesture. However, doctors reassured Serhiy's family, attributing the problems to postpartum complications. Unfortunately, the situation did not improve. Serhiy did not start talking until he was over three years old.
Due to hostilities and military danger, Serhiy's family was forced to flee their home. Later, Serhiy underwent a psychiatric examination that revealed several developmental disorders. He was diagnosed with childhood autism, speech disorders, cognitive impairment, and impaired social interaction. He had to attend long hours of rehabilitation classes.
Now, Serhiy is gradually beginning to pronounce some words. He knows the alphabet, loves doing puzzles and playing with toy cars. Serhiy is a determined and stubborn boy. Of all the specialist classes, he likes ABA therapy the most. To continue developing, he needs regular, expensive rehabilitation. Please help Serhiy and his family!
