Seventeen-year-old Daria, who has developmental disabilities, needs a rehabilitation program. Support her on her journey to recovery!
Daria Kripakova was born weighing just 2000 grams, and an ultrasound examination immediately after birth revealed that she had a congenital brain abnormality called agenesis of the corpus callosum. Daria did not feed independently until she was nearly a year old, so she was fed with a feeding tube. She started to walk at the age of three.
Soon afterward, Daria began to experience several additional health problems. At age three, she developed kidney disease and had red blood cells in her urine. By age five, she had rapid-onset cataracts in both eyes. These symptoms are clear signs of Alport syndrome, a hereditary kidney disorder.
At age six, Daria had surgery to install artificial lenses in her eyes. Unfortunately, she had a postoperative complication in her left eye, and now her vision is at 60% capacity. She also has hypothyroidism and needs to take L-thyroxine and have hormone monitoring every three months.
Daria's complex diagnoses include varus foot deformity, valgus knee joints, scoliosis, and a psychiatric condition of severe learning difficulties. She does not speak at all and has limited understanding of spoken language. She works with a defectologist, a speech-language therapist, a neuropsychologist, and physical rehabilitation specialists.
Daria really enjoys communicating with other children and adults, and she loves holidays and group activities. She is very bright, positive, and gentle. Her mother and doctors are working together to help her acquire new skills. Please assist Daria in accessing another rehabilitation program!
