KIRA AND OLEKSANDR HAVE DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS AND SPEECH DISORDERS. SUPPORT THE SISTER AND BROTHER: HELP THE KIDS GET REHABILITATION!
Kira Cherepenko is 6 years old. She was born after a difficult birth: a 20-hour waterless period caused serious complications. From the first day of life, Kira had severe tremors, and she was forced to take sedative medications. As a result, her development was significantly delayed: she began to hold her head up and sit independently late. By the age of 4, Kira could only move with support within the play area, and she took her first independent steps only later.
Dozens of medical examinations, repeated hearing tests, ultrasounds of the organs and the thyroid gland, numerous tests — nothing on this list helped identify the real cause of the problem. Only when Kira was 5 years old were doctors able to confirm the diagnosis: autism and moderate intellectual disability, officially. Since then, the girl's life has been a constant, grueling series of sessions with rehabilitation specialists and a drive to develop, with every small step being very difficult.
Kira is quiet and vulnerable, living in her own special world, where her best friends are cartoon characters. She doesn’t play with ordinary toys, but can spend hours concentrating on twisting ropes - this is her way to calm down. Kira is very afraid of open spaces, so going outside is a real challenge for her. Unfortunately, the girl still does not speak at all. Now the child critically needs rehabilitation to correct her behavior and master basic self-service skills.
Kira's younger brother, Oleksandr, has a similar diagnosis - psycholinguistic developmental delay with signs of the autistic spectrum. From an early age, the parents noticed delays in physical development: the boy began to hold his head up, sit, and crawl later than normal. At 1.5 years old, he was examined in the neurological department, where he received a course of massages. He walked independently at 1 year and 6 months. Now Oleksandr retains a peculiar gait - he often walks on his toes.
Now, Oleksandr does not speak at all and does not understand spoken language. He is highly sensitive to certain sounds. The boy attends kindergarten, but only for 3 hours a day. Due to his selective eating, he cannot eat fully at kindergarten. Sashko finds it very difficult to communicate with other children. Regular classes with a speech therapist, ABA therapy, and sensory integration are the only way for Sashko to overcome isolation and begin communicating.
Kira’s and Oleksandr's parents are appealing to all who care to support the family and help the children receive proper treatment, medical services, and rehabilitation so they can find a common language with the world.
