9-YEAR-OLD DIANA WITH CP WANTS TO DEVELOP AND MOVE MORE CONFIDENTLY. PLEASE HELP THE GIRL!
Diana Kovalenko experienced severe hypoxia at birth. In the first months of life, the child was restless, often cried, and refused to be fed. When Diana was 6 months old, her parents noticed a developmental delay: she had not learned to sit or roll over on time. Diana began taking her first independent steps at 1 year and 7 months.
The girl's condition and behavior indicated a psycho-speech developmental delay. She didn’t recognize relatives, didn’t maintain eye contact, and didn’t use pointing gestures. Since then, the family's life has become an endless marathon of medical consultations and therapy appointments, tests and examinations, rehabilitation, and classes with specialists.
Diana worked with a speech therapist, a pathologist, and a correctional teacher, and attended massages, sensory integration, cerebellar stimulation, micropolarization, and even dolphin therapy. Diana said her first word, "mom," at 3.5 years old. Now the girl has a diagnosis of cerebral palsy, flaccid lower paraparesis with pronounced motor gait disorders, and cognitive impairment syndrome.
At age 6, Diana was also diagnosed with epilepsy, adding to her list of serious diagnoses. The child constantly takes nootropics and anticonvulsants and is forced to adhere to a lactose-free and gluten-free diet. To prevent regression in her skills and allow her to continue developing, she needs another course of rehabilitation. Please support the girl and her family!
