6-YEAR-OLD PLATON WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES UNDERWENT NEUROSURGERY AND ONLY RECENTLY BEGAN SPEAKING. SUPPORT THE KID!
Platon Kolodochka was born via cesarean section without any major complications. Unfortunately, during the first scheduled ultrasound at 3 months, cysts were discovered in the boy's brain. For the next 2 years, Platon was under the supervision of neurologists. He cried constantly and slept very little, although in general he developed normally. At 2 years old, Platon fell ill with COVID-19, and after that the family began to notice a regression in the child's development.
The pediatrician advised Platon's parents to consult a neurologist because he had no speech at all. An MRI scan helped establish the diagnosis of hydrocephalus. Soon after, the boy underwent a complex operation in the neurosurgery department of the “Okhmatdyt” hospital. Since then, Platon's long rehabilitation journey has begun: he still works with a speech therapist and a psychologist, receives physical therapy and sensory integration, and receives ABA therapy.
Platon is now 6 years old, but he is not yet ready for school - his nervous system and level of knowledge require time and development. Despite this, there have also been positive changes and results. In the fall of 2024, Platon began to speak, his motor coordination improved, and he had a better understanding of language and the world around him. However, this path requires long-term, systematic rehabilitation.
Platon loves water very much. He enjoys swimming lessons and loves cars and cartoons. The boy has the status of a child with disabilities and needs comprehensive rehabilitation. Unfortunately, the constant classes, treatment, and corrective work require significant financial costs that the family finds it difficult to cover on their own. Support Platon on his way to a fulfilling life!
