6-YEAR-OLD MATVIY WITH DOWN SYNDROME DOES NOT SPEAK AND HAS COORDINATION DIFFICULTIES. HELP THE BOY GET REHABILITATION!
Matviy Rybka was born under difficult circumstances and spent the first days of his life in the intensive care unit. On the second day, his parents learned from the doctors that the boy had Down syndrome and several other diagnoses. The following year was extremely difficult for Matviy's family: at 6 months old, the child underwent heart surgery, and after that he faced a long, difficult struggle for his health and life.
Each new achievement required extraordinary effort from Matviy, but it was a real joy for his parents. The boy developed at his own pace, with a certain lag compared to his peers. Unfortunately, with the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, the child’s access to rehabilitation was temporarily suspended because Matviy’s family had to leave his native Slovyansk in the Donetsk region.
Only at age 3 did Matviy begin to regularly engage in rehabilitation activities with specialists in physical therapy, a neuropsychologist, and a speech therapist, and to attend the swimming pool. The classes began to yield results. Matviy will soon be 6 years old. He does not speak at all and has significant difficulties with communication, self-care, orientation, and coordination due to muscle hypotonia.
Matviy is constantly receiving hormone therapy. All efforts by doctors and the family are aimed at minimizing and correcting deviations. Matviy needs regularly scheduled rehabilitation classes to consolidate previous achievements and prevent regression in his development. Please support the boy and his parents!
