12-YEAR-OLD MYKHAILO WITH AUTISM AND BEHAVIOR DISORDER NEEDS A CORRECTIONAL COURSE. SUPPORT THE BOY!
Mykhailo Shalimov was born after a complicated delivery at 37 weeks' gestation. Until age 1, the boy developed normally: he began walking independently and speaking his first words on time. However, as early as the second year of life, Mykhailo's parents noticed significant changes in his behavior: he began to avoid eye contact, and his responses to spoken language became unpredictable. The baby's speech development practically stopped.
At 2.5 years old, Mykhailo started kindergarten. There, his peculiarities became even more noticeable: he almost never spoke, did not play with other children, and had certain behavioral problems. The teacher advised the family to contact specialists. After that, a long path of examinations and consultations began. Mykhailo underwent examinations at various medical institutions to establish the correct diagnosis.
Mykhailo was diagnosed with childhood autism, along with decreased intellectual and memory functions, hyperkinetic behavior disorder, emotional and volitional disorders, and social maladaptation. Since then, the child has been working with a developmental psychologist and a speech therapist, and has been attending music and group classes focused on communication skills. This has yielded positive results: the boy began to speak and became more open and sociable.
In 2021, he attended an inclusive class. But after the start of a full-scale war, everything changed. Due to the temporary suspension of remedial classes and the transition to online learning, his condition deteriorated significantly: his sleep was disturbed, and aggression toward himself and others began to appear. The psychiatrist began selecting medication. However, some drugs cause allergies in Mykhailo, so the treatment requires constant supervision by specialists.
Mykhailo is now 12 years old. He is a very active and inquisitive boy, but he needs constant support, attention, and help from adults. Mykhailo really enjoys riding a bike and a scooter, jumping on a trampoline, and solving puzzles. He has difficulty tolerating loneliness and does not like being alone in a room. Due to his behavioral characteristics, parents must be nearby, monitor his condition, and help him cope with emotions.
The boy continues to study at school under an individualized program. However, it is extremely important that he not stop the corrective and developmental work. Regular classes help him develop speech, memory, attention, and communication skills, and learn to control his behavior. Mykhailo really needs classes with a defectologist, a neuropsychologist, a speech therapist, and other specialists. Please help Myshko and his family!
