6-YEAR-OLD SASHKO HAS DEVELOPMENTAL DELAY. HELP THE BOY GET REHABILITATION AND A COURSE OF CLASSES WITH A SPEECH THERAPIST!
Oleksandr Kostyriev was born at 38 weeks of gestation via cesarean section and was entangled in the umbilical cord at birth. During the 3rd week of life, the boy developed a viral respiratory infection and required antibiotics while being treated in the neonatal unit. Among the consequences of the illness were digestive problems, protein allergy, and gastroenterocolitis.
At 8 months, Sashko sat with support. He was able to stand independently at 1 year and to walk at 1 year and 4 months. The boy developed with a certain delay, both physically and mentally. After numerous examinations and consultations, geneticists selected supportive therapy for him, taking into account the identified deficiencies.
After the start of the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine, Sashko and his mother left their native Kharkiv and temporarily moved to Poland. There, the boy was often sick, including scarlet fever, chickenpox, and various respiratory diseases. During the entire time outside of Ukraine, Oleksandr did not attend any rehabilitation classes.
In 2023, the family returned to Kharkiv, hoping the child would receive intensive rehabilitation and treatment. At age 4, Sashko began speaking in syllables. Later, his vocabulary expanded, but it remains insufficient for communication with peers. The boy also has problems with memory, concentration, self-care, and physical exercise.
Oleksandr is now almost 6 years old. He is kind and shy, and he loves water and sensory anti-stress toys. The boy is being observed by a geneticist, orthopedist, endocrinologist, cardiologist, and psychiatrist. He periodically undergoes rehabilitation courses in special institutions in Kharkiv and works with a speech therapist.
Oleksandr does not attend kindergarten and primarily develops at home. For further development, he needs a comprehensive rehabilitation program: classes with a speech therapist, ABA therapy, exercise therapy, and sensory integration. The cost of rehabilitation courses is a significant financial burden for the family. Please support Oleksandr! Help the boy receive rehabilitation and development!
