VARVARA AND MELANIA, TWINS FROM THE OCCUPIED KHERSON REGION, HAVE AUTISM AND SPEECH DISORDERS. HELP THEM ACCESS THERAPY!
Twins Varvara and Melania Matushevych are currently 6 years old. Both sisters have disabilities, including atypical autism, speech disorders, and difficulty understanding spoken language. Melania does not speak at all; she only vocalizes isolated sound combinations. Varvara can speak but cannot express her thoughts coherently aloud, form sentences, or engage in dialogue.
From birth, the children developed as expected for their ages. The family lived on the left bank of the Kherson region, a district currently under occupation. At age two and a half, Melania stopped speaking after experiencing missile attacks. She stopped responding to speech directed at her and developed sleep problems. Varvara also struggled to understand spoken language for a long period.
With regular developmental sessions, their condition gradually improved. However, to fully restore their neuro-linguistic functions and daily living skills, both girls need to continue receiving regular rehabilitation, working with specialists, and taking medication. The twins are being raised by their mother alone. Please help this family of internally displaced persons pay for a course of corrective rehabilitation for the children!
