11-YEAR-OLD VERONIKA HAS A RARE GENETIC DISORDER AND NEEDS CONSTANT CARE. HELP HER GET REHABILITATION!
Veronika Levycheva was born prematurely at 34 weeks, weighing only 1,800 grams. From birth, her development required special attention and constant medical monitoring. During her first 2 years of life, Veronika frequently experienced seizures, and her physical and psychomotor development was delayed.
Initially, doctors attributed her developmental issues to other conditions, including a diagnosis of attention deficit disorder. Veronika regularly underwent the necessary medical examinations and rehabilitation programs that supported her development and helped her acquire new skills.
At age seven, Veronika underwent genetic testing that identified the true cause of her developmental differences. She was found to have a mutation in the *MECP2* gene and was diagnosed with Rett syndrome, a rare genetic neurological disorder that primarily affects girls.
Rett syndrome significantly affects her cognitive, speech, and psychomotor development. Veronika struggles to understand spoken language and has difficulty with spatial orientation. She requires constant supervision and adult assistance in her daily life. She continues to participate in rehabilitation programs and regularly works with specialists.
Rehabilitation classes and sessions play a vital role in maintaining Veronika’s functional abilities and preventing further complications. Despite the challenges she faces, Veronika remains a kind, sensitive, and cheerful girl who enjoys conversing with others, laughing, and watching cartoons.
