10-YEAR-OLD HORDIY HAS ATYPICAL AUTISM AND NEEDS INTENSIVE REHABILITATION. PLEASE SUPPORT HIM!
Hordiy Romanenko was born into a family of internally displaced persons from the occupied Donetsk region. His birth coincided with a period of total uncertainty and chaos for his parents, as the russian-Ukrainian war was just beginning. Later, after the family had finally settled in Kyiv and Hordiy had grown a little, it became apparent that his development differed from that of his peers.
Hordiy’s mother consulted specialists, and the child underwent numerous medical examinations as doctors sought to understand his condition. In 2018, Hordiy was diagnosed with atypical autism (subgroup A). This marked the start of a new chapter for the family, involving rehabilitation courses, regular sessions with specialists, and ongoing work on his development and skill-building.
Over the years, Hordiy has learned a lot. However, every new skill requires immense effort and daily hard work. Unfortunately, Hordiy’s mother is raising him on her own; the family suffered a tragedy a few years ago when the boy's father was officially declared missing in action. The entire burden of her son's life, including rehabilitation, therapy, and development, rests on her shoulders.
Hordiy now requires continuous, systematic rehabilitation. He needs to continually reinforce the skills he has already acquired while learning new ones. This affects his future: his ability to care for himself, handle daily tasks, communicate with others, learn, work, and, as far as possible, live without constant assistance from another person. Please help Hordiy get the rehabilitation he needs!
