6-YEAR-OLD OLEH, WHO HAS DEVELOPMENTAL DELAYS AND GENETIC DISORDERS, NEEDS INTENSIVE REHABILITATION!
Serious health issues were detected in little Oleh Shashkov during his first year of life. An ultrasound revealed a liver cyst, signs of liver enlargement, and a kinked gallbladder. A patent foramen ovale (an opening in the heart) was also discovered. Later, additional developmental issues became apparent.
When Oleh was three, neurologists diagnosed him with minimal brain dysfunction, hyperexcitability syndrome, and Level 1 general speech underdevelopment. Since then, his parents have been seeking every possible way to help their son. The boy’s life has consisted of constant medical checkups, treatments, and doctor consultations.
Oleh undergoes testing every two months to adjust his therapy. He requires ongoing, comprehensive sessions with specialists: a neuropsychologist, speech therapist, special education teacher, remedial educator, and sensory integration specialist. These sessions are crucial to his development, helping him work on speech, attention, cognitive skills, academic and daily living skills, sensory perception, and behavior.
Despite the challenges, Oleh is a kind, curious, and cheerful boy. He loves dinosaurs and enjoys building with construction sets. He enjoys learning, playing, and growing. Please help Oleh continue his essential rehabilitation and give him a chance to develop further and gain greater independence.
