8-YEAR-OLD KATYA WITH AUTISM NEEDS REHABILITATION AND SENSORY INTEGRATION THERAPY. HELP HER DEVELOP AND SOCIALIZE!
Kateryna Ryzhkova is a cheerful and lively girl. She developed normally from an early age and brought joy to her parents. However, by age one, it became increasingly clear that Katya was struggling with communication, as she avoided eye contact and did not respond to her name.
Katya began speaking only after the age of two. Initially, she would repeat certain phrases she heard in cartoons. That was not functional speech but echolalia. She was eventually diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
After the full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, Katya, her mother, and her older brother relocated to France. The stress and language barrier caused Katya to withdraw even further. Her French preschool director became concerned and referred her to a psychologist, marking the start of the search for ways to support Katya’s communication and socialization.
At age five, Katya was officially recognized as a child with a disability; she underwent medical testing and began working with a Ukrainian speech therapist online. She also spent about a year working with an ABA therapist, which yielded positive results. However, the language barrier hindered her communication and socialization, so the family returned to Ukraine in 2025.
Back home, Kateryna continues to receive therapy, is under the care of neurologists and psychiatrists, follows a special diet, works with a speech therapist, and strives to grow. To further her neuromotor development, Katya now needs comprehensive rehabilitation guided by specialists. Please help her attend the next course of treatment!
