5-YEAR-OLD MYKHAILO IS OVERCOMING THE EFFECTS OF A CNS DISORDER AND MUSCULOSKELETAL ISSUES. PLEASE HELP HIM GET THE TREATMENT!
Mykhailo Maksymenko is 5 years old, and unfortunately, he is already facing difficult challenges at such a young age. From birth, Mykhailo was a lively, cheerful child with a genuine smile. He spoke his first word at 10 months and took his first steps at 11 months. However, his life changed dramatically after he contracted an infection at 18 months.
It was then that his parents learned of his diagnosis: autism spectrum disorder. Since then, the family has done everything in their power to support their son’s development and health. Mykhailo is constantly undergoing rehabilitation, seeing various specialists, receiving necessary medical examinations, and following all doctors' recommendations. This year, Mykhailo was officially granted the status of a child with a disability.
His list of serious diagnoses has since expanded to include: an organic central nervous system disorder with hyperexcitability and attention deficit, general speech underdevelopment, foot deformities, and postural issues. Despite these difficulties, Mykhailo remains a bright, open-hearted, and persistent child, making small but significant strides in his development every day.
Mykhailo is determined and curious. This summer, he learned to swim short distances and is now trying to balance on a two-wheeled bicycle. He dreams of becoming a doctor to heal his mother’s knees. For his ongoing rehabilitation and development, he needs regular therapy and medical treatment, which are costly. The family’s financial and emotional resources are nearly exhausted. Project goal — to raise UAH 29,800 to cover the cost of a rehabilitation course at the “Tsentr Moia Planeta” Rehabilitation Center.
