CHILDREN, REHABILITATION, AND THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF POSTPONING “FOR LATER”

Today, 14 January, the world is celebrating Anti-Procrastination Day. Yes, there is such a day in the calendar because procrastination is problematic today. It is the behavior of postponing the performance of so-called non-motivational activities in favor of motivational activities. In other words, it's a decision to do the most unpleasant part of the job later.

For years, psychologists, HR specialists, startup founders, and corporate executives have debated whether procrastination is the new norm in modern life. Meanwhile, these questions may remain open for some business processes. Still, from the experience of our organization, the Charity Exchange "DobroDiy", we clearly understand that most of our tasks do not tolerate any kind of postponement.

In such critical situations, where the health and lives of children are at stake, procrastination is the worst enemy. Regarding emergency care, everything is clear: speed of decision is often the main prerequisite for rescue. But rehabilitation is a process that can never be delayed. Regularity and punctuality are the keys to the recovery and development of our young wards.

As you read this, our little heroes, children, and young people with difficult diagnoses and the consequences of illness and injury are taking decisive steps toward recovery, development, and a more fulfilling childhood. We are delighted to be able to share news of these achievements, which are almost imperceptible to the naked eye, but are very big and significant for each child personally:

  • Artem Kurochka (https://248.dp.ua/projects/1678) began his rehabilitation at the "Rostok Zhittya" Hippotherapy Centre on 9 January, where lessons with horses helped him to move forward with confidence.

Each such rehabilitation is a step towards independent living and socialization of the children in the future. We are grateful to everyone who supports our wards and helps their families pay for the necessary rehabilitation courses.

Also on the International Day against Procrastination, we urge everyone: do not put off good deeds for tomorrow! Make a contribution to help seriously ill children on our website: https://248.dp.ua/projects.
