September 8 — World Physical Therapy Day. Why is it more than just exercises; it's a key to health?

Today, the world celebrates Physiotherapy Day, an important part of modern medicine that we encounter in our work every day. The World Organization of Physiotherapy was established on this day in 1951. Since then, these specialists have proven that physical therapy is one of the key elements in the effective recovery of patients.

Today, the industry is evolving rapidly. Physical therapy in the 21st century isn’t just about exercises or equipment; it’s a comprehensive science focused on restoring movement, body control, relieving pain, and regaining freedom. When combined with other therapies, physical therapy plays a crucial role in improving the quality of life for millions, including children with serious diagnoses.

For our young patients, physical therapy is:
  1. Alleviating pain and spasticity. Children with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders can reduce muscle stiffness and discomfort through exercise and massage.
  2. Restoring motor skills. Regular classes can help them take their first steps, maintain balance, and even get out of their wheelchair for the first time.
  3. Improving motor skills. Therapy helps develop fine motor skills, which have a positive effect on speech and cognitive functions.
  4. It enhances coordination and confidence in the body. Children become more aware of their space, less likely to get hurt, and more free.
  5. It is a pathway to independence. Physical therapy enables them to move freely and be self-sufficient in daily activities.

Our children work alongside physical therapy specialists every day. These specialists help them take new steps, speak new words, and feel stronger. During this very difficult time for Ukraine, hundreds of centers specializing in various methods of physical rehabilitation continue to operate within the country, including large medical institutions.

We are grateful to every donor and partner supporting the funding of these classes, as without benefactors, these changes would not be possible. Today is a good opportunity to recognize the importance of physical therapy in the lives of disabled children.
