Special Nutrition for Children with Serious Conditions: A Daily Diet Their Lives Depend On

For most people, food is a daily part of life. However, for many children with serious diagnoses, special nutrition, carefully prescribed by doctors, is a complex medical support that their bodies cannot recover without.

Thanks to your support earlier this year, the Charity Exchange "DobroDiy" was able to provide two of our young wards, who are bravely fighting the effects of serious diseases—digestive system pathologies—with the much-needed specialized enteral nutrition.

The girl was born prematurely and has a complex congenital condition called esophageal atresia. Over two years, she has undergone five major surgeries, including procedures on her stomach and lungs.

Due to several postoperative complications, doctors performed an oesophagostomy, and Maria spent nearly six months in the hospital. Today, Peptamen Junior nutritional formulas form the core of her daily diet, helping her gradually gain weight and recover.

During early childhood, Roman underwent complex surgery, after which doctors determined that nearly his entire small intestine had died.

Since then, he has been able to live and grow thanks to carefully chosen parenteral and enteral nutrition, which he receives consistently. Roman is studying remotely in the 9th grade, performs well academically, and especially enjoys history and English classes.
